Johnny
Arnold Cooper, 68 of Leland, North Carolina,
passed away at Hospice Care Center on July 24,
2010.
Johnny was
born October 6, 1941 in Clinton County the son
of the late George and Betty Osborne Cooper. He
is survived by his wife, the former, Linda
Grove, whom he married December 28,
1966.
Mr. Cooper
retired in 2002 after spending 35 years as
Facilities Engineer in the Aircraft Engine
Division of General Electric. A 1959 graduate of
Wilmington High School he had also attended
University of Cincinnati. He served in the
United States Air Force National Guard from
1965-1970. He was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, NC, a member
of the Cape Fear County Club, a member of the GE
Elfun Society, and an avid volunteer at Topsail
High School. Mr. Cooper enjoyed fishing, golf
and playing with his grandchildren.
In
addition to his wife, he is survived by a
daughter Tiffany Cooper Disrud of Silver Spring,
Maryland and two grandsons, Carter and Cameron
Disrud. He is also survived by two sisters,
Sharon Cooper and Pam (Ron) Pierson and one
brother, Terry Cooper, all of Wilmington. A
special uncle, Burdette Osborne, also
survives.
A Memorial
service was held at the First Presbyterian
Church in Wilmington, North Carolina on Tuesday.
A graveside service will be held on Friday at
11:00 a.m. at the Centerville Cemetery, Lees
Creek with Kevin Beck officiating.
Local
arrangements are with the Littleton Funeral
Home, Sabina.
