Charles "Charlie" Thomas Dawson

Charles Thomas Dawson (Charlie), 85, of Hillsboro, OH passed away at Highland District Hospital Sunday, March 5, 2017.

He was born in Clinton County, OH to Alva and Grace (McClanahan) Dawson on January 29, 1932.

He grew up in Clinton County, where he became an avid horseman as a young boy. His love of horses was a passion he carried throughout his entire life. Friends and family fondly remember his great sense of humor and compassionate nature. He conquered many trades during his life, among them he was a police officer, an auctioneer, pastor, home-builder he owned his own heavy equipment operating business for over 40 years. He undertook his last big project at the age of 74 and built a home for himself and his late wife Anna.

Charlie is survived by an adoring family. Among them are nine beloved children, two sons, and seven daughters, Charles Thomas Jr. (Delores), Kathleen (David), Dixie (Steve), Crystal(Charles), Carla, Shirley, Sally (Gary), and Craig (Jerrica). He is also survived by 21 beloved grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Numerous special nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and a multitude of special friends, along with his church family at Hillsboro Freewill Baptist Church survive him.

Preceding him in death were his mother and father, spouse Sue Ann Dawson (Mitchell), spouse Anna E.Dawson (Wilson) brother Harold Dawson, sisters Mabel, Hazel (Ernie), Jessie (knute), Marjorie (Darrell), Norma (Windy), daughter Jaqueline, son Curtis, precious granddaughter Sara Jane, beloved grandson Jay Harold Dawson, and many adored brother and sister-in-laws, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held by the Littleton Funeral Home at Hillsboro Freewill Baptist Church in Hillsboro, OH. Family and friends may call from 12-2pm Friday, March 10, 2017 and Funeral will be at 2pm with burial will be at the Sugar Tree Ridge cemetery.
