James L Roberds

James L. Roberds, age 86, of Washington Court House, passed away early Thursday morning, June 23, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, whom he married July 6, 1948.

A graduate of Sabina High School, he served in the Air Force during WW II, where he also served as a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp. Jim retired, after 32 years, with DP&L as a climbing service man. He holds a private pilot’s license and was a member of The Heritage Memorial Church, where he served on several mission trips building churches and schools.  He was also a member of the Fayette Co. Life Squad for several years and the Kiwanis Club.

Betty and Jim’s home was always open and they were parents to many kids. In addition to Betty, Jim is survived by their children: Roni (Bill) Terry, Lisa (David) Cooper, Betsy (Jimmy “Bo”) Miller and their foster daughter, Mary Ellen Anders, all of Washington Court House, Christian (Tim) Bennett, of Bloomingburg and Risa Nevarez, of Cincinnati. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Robby, Adam, Jennifer, Julia, McKinzie, Cody, Austin, Elizabeth and Carrie Jo; ten great-grandchildren, and a sister, Patty (Ace) Spurlock, of Wilmington; along with several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, David James Roberds, in 1953.

A funeral service will be on Saturday, June 25, at 1:00 at the Heritage Memorial Church with visitation from 11:00 until 1:00 Burial will follow in White Oak Cemetery.
