Leslie Ruth Hazleton

Leslie Ruth Hazleton, 83, of San Jose, and of Wilmington for the past six years, where she had been lovingly cared for by her niece Joy Macaluso and family, passed away on Friday evening June 2, 2017.

Born October 31, 1933 in Fresno, CA to Harold and Joy (Martin) Hazleton.  Her family included siblings: Betty Shave, Robert (Shirley) Hazleton, George (Jeanneanne) Hazleton, and William (Sharla) Hazleton.

Leslie graduated from Campbell High School near San Jose, CA and she attended San Jose State University.  Leslie was an artistic person, and her first job was with Emporium-Capwell in San Francisco, illustrating shoes and handbags for their newspaper ads.  For most of her career, she was a store clerk, selling shoes in Los Angeles and working at Orchard Supply Hardware in San Jose.  

She was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews: John (Ruth) Ross, Thomas (Miriam) Ross, Susan Jow, Ila Scoville, Nancy (Dan Cochrane) Looney, Joy (Anthony) Macaluso, Kathy (Richard) Coencas, Denise (Thomas) Brewster, Nancy (Patrick) Ederer, Pamela (Antonio) Goncalves, Robert (Rebecca) Hazleton, Stephen (Pamela) Hazleton, Jenny (Randy) Copeland and Kathleen Hazleton-Imberi. 

She was also Great-Aunt to 46. 

Leslie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robert and sister, Betty and by two nieces, Denise and Ila.

Leslie was an artistic person who was incredibly kind and generous to all whom she loved.  Her greatest pleasure was in giving gifts, and her thoughtfulness was always evident in what she gave.  She will be remembered as a singular, creative and very loved sister, cousin and aunt.

Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose at the convenience of the family. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to a Hospice organization of one's choice.
