Margaret "Pat" (Patterson) Dailey

September 12, 1926 ~ June 25, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Margaret Jean Patterson “Pat” Dailey, of Wilmington, passed on Saturday, June 25, at Hospice of Dayton. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Dailey, who died on April 3, 1996.  They were married 49 years. 

Pat was born September 12, 1926 in Highland county, the daughter of Robert and Norma Forte Patterson.  She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1944, from Wilmington College in 1948, and received her Masters from the Ohio State University in 1951, and continued at Miami University working towards her Doctorate. 

Pat taught in the Sabina School System, the St. Ursula Academy and College in St. Martins, Oh, and Wilmington College.   She retired from Wilmington College in 1988 as an associate professor of Education.  Following retirement, she taught an aqua aerobics class for senior citizens at the local YMCA and was active with the Senior Citizens in Wilmington.  She had attended the New Antioch Church of Christ and the Wilmington Bible Baptist Church. She was a loving caregiver for her daughter in law Aimee and children.  

Pat is survived by three children, Richard L., II of Davenport, Iowa,  who for health reasons will not be able to travel for the services.  Also Susan Elizabeth (David) Robinson of New Lebanon and William L. (Aimee, dec) of Middletown.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jacob L. and Eryne L. Dailey, Nathan R. and Chadwick (Nicole) Robinson; nine great-grandchildren; along with brother James H.(JoAnn) Patterson of Wilmington, and sister in law Lynette Patterson of Geneva. 

In addition to her husband, Pat is preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Jane Tenner and Helen Wertsler; three brothers, Robert Jr., Raymond  and Roy Virgil; and her daughter in-law, Aimee Dailey. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 28, at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina. Pastor Josh Dixon will be officiating and burial will follow at New Antioch Cemetery.  Friends may call Monday evening from 5-8pm at the funeral home.  Immediately following the burial, a luncheon will be provided at the New Antioch Church Fellowship Hall and all are welcome to come.
