Mark A. Groves

Mark A. Groves, age 39, passed peacefully at Kobacker House, in Columbus, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, after an eight month battle with cancer. 

Born in Washington Court House, Mark was the son of the late Donna Groves Welvin, who preceded him in death in 2008. 

Mark was a 1996 graduate of Washington High School; he then attended Southern State.  He was a dedicated employee at Walmart Distribution, where he was a systems operator for 16 years.  Mark was an avid music lover, but his true passion in life was his children.  He was a devoted father, an amazing friend, and a compassionate man who didn’t know a stranger. 

Mark is survived by his sons: Mark A. Groves, II of Chillicothe, and Parker Owen and Cooper Lee Zimmerman along with their mother, Kassie Zimmerman, of Washington Court House.  Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Kathy (Troy) Mitchell of Columbus, Michael (Stacey) Wagner and James Groves all of Washington Court House; aunts, Kathy ‘Tina’ Penwell and Rosetta Groves; uncles, Mark (Tiffany) Groves, Dean Groves, and Mike (Rose) Groves; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his mother, Mark is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Frank Groves; and an uncle, Junior Groves. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to Jeffersonville United Methodist Church. 

Family will receive friends on Sunday, February 12, 2016 from 2-5pm at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, where a funeral service will take place on Monday, at 11am.  Burial to follow at Highlawn Cemetery.
