Norma’s ashes will be joined with those of her husband Wilbur at Miami Cemetery in Corwin, Ohio also on Saturday the 17th.  Friends are welcome to join the family at 11:30 for the interment.

Norma was known far and wide as the “Cookie Lady”. For more than 3 decades she was a cook in the Clinton Massie school system. The daily smell of her cookies baking drifted through the halls and classrooms of Clinton Massie, distracting teachers and students alike. Once, years after her retirement Norma was greeted in Wal-Mart, her second home, by five very large young men in Clinton Massie football jerseys.  They all exclaimed, “Hey! It’s the Cookie Lady!” Then they all hugged her and asked, “Do you have any cookies for us?”

The Lewis household was never limited to immediate family members. It would not be an exaggeration to say the unofficial center of the Harveysburg community was Norma and Willie’s kitchen table.  Something good to eat, coffee, conversation or a helping hand could always be found. No one ever left the Lewis house with a heavy heart or empty stomach.

Holidays were a great source of joy for Norma. She loved nothing more than to have her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren visit for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Until her late seventies she delighted in preparing large and delicious meals for them to share. There were always a lot of willing hands to help her with the preparation of her prize winning homemade noodles, yeast rolls, peanut butter pie and many other items too numerous to list. Norma was an avid bird watcher. Year around she would feed the birds and created flower gardens that were not only beautiful but welcomed her feathered friends. She recognized birds by sight and sound and passed her love and knowledge on. When her vision began
to fail it gave her pleasure to quietly sit and listen for their different songs.

There is joy to be found every day through the love and strength provided by our faith in God. Even as her time here on this earth neared and her body and mind failed, Norma never lost her faith. As she was often heard to say “He is still on the Throne.”
