Oma Jordan Kimbro

Oma Jordan Kimbro, 90, of Oak Ridge TN, died May 24, 2017 at her sisters home in Sabina, Ohio. She was born in Elys Kentucky, June 11, 1926, the second of seven children, to Charles and Martha Jane Gambrel Jordan. She grew up during the Great Depression and while still in high school, began working on the Manhattan Project in the summer of 1944. A member of the greatest generation, she was a career woman before that term existed, retiring from Government Service at Oak Ridge. In retirement she worked with the Jackson Square revitalization project and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a lifetime resident of Oak Ridge and a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. Oma was preceded in death by her husband Edmon Bradley Kimbro, parents, brother Charles Jordan Jr, brother Sol Jordan, sister Jewell Shepherd and sister Lonzie Jordan. She is survived by sister Jody Wallace of Xenia Ohio, sister Fay Beard of Sabina, Ohio, sister-in-law Audrey Jordan of Xenia Ohio, brother-in-law Charles Shepherd of Union Ohio, step son Edmon Bradley Kimbro Jr. and wife Beverly of Oak Ridge,  step daughters  Patricia Ann Kimbro Adams and husband, James of Rockledge, Fla. and  Charlotte Rachel Kimbro Henson of Knoxville, neighbor and close friend Jack Rich of Oak Ridge and numerous nieces, nephews, step grand children and great grand children. Oma’s life was one of contribution to her country, her family and friends. She loved her family and friends dearly and gave freely of herself. She was well loved and we will miss her.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 28, from 1-2pm at the Weatherford Mortuary, 158 S. Jefferson Circle, Oak Ridge, TN followed by a graveside service at Anderson Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton TN.  Memorial Contributions can be made to the Methodist Medical Center Foundation Hospitality Houses of Oak Ridge, 990 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.  Services are under the arrangement of Littleton Funeral Home.
