Thomas M. Guard

Thomas M. Guard, age 83, of New Vienna, passed on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. 

Born in Kent Township, Indiana on March 14, 1933, he was the son of Clarence Milton and Julia Inman Guard. 

Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Glenna L. Davis Guard, whom he married in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on January 31, 1953. 

Following graduation from Kingman High School, Tom served in the United States Air Force from 1953 - 1963.  In 1963, he enlisted in the Ohio Air National Guard, from where he retired after 33.5 years of service.  Following retirement, Tom went to work at Airborne Express and retired from there after 10 years.  He was a sports enthusiast, enjoying baseball, football, and golf. 

Tom is survived by five sons: Tom (Bendi) of New Albany, Joe (Janice) and Curtis (Becky) both of Washington Court House, John (Angela) of Canal Winchester, and James (Carol) of New Vienna.  Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Zachary (Nicole), Cassie, Christopher, Jason, Andrea, Anthony, Matthew (Shannon), Megan, Olivia, and Elizabeth; several step-grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is Tom's special cousin, Merle Inman. 

Family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Littleton Funeral Home, from 5-8pm.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
