Wilma J. Wood, age 79, of New Vienna, passed Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. 

Born in New Antioch on December 9, 1936, she was the daughter of William T. Hughes, II and Bernita Lieurance Hughes. 

Wilma graduated from Simon Kenton High School and was a devoted homemaker.  She completed her Bachelor’s Degree after her children graduated and went on to complete her Master’s at Wright State.  Wilma attended the New Antioch Church of Christ, was a church organist, and active in Sunday School and Women’s Club.  She taught piano at home for years and was highly regarded for her vast knowledge of collectable books and postcards.  Wilma traveled to share her collection at many trade shows.    

Wilma is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Joseph Wood.  Her children, Krystal Cleaver and Scott (Susan) Wood, both of New Vienna, survive.  Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Tiffany Lykins, Jeremy Pinkerton, and Anna (Dalton) Stockton; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Katelin, Jordan, June, Elaina Jo, and Sam; along with sisters: Mary (Jackie) Keeton and Osa (Richard) Neely. 

In addition to her parents, Wilma is preceded in death by her brother, William Todd Hughes, III. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to New Antioch Church of Christ. 

Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the New Antioch Church of Christ from 6-8pm, where a funeral will be held on Friday at 11am.  Burial will follow at New Antioch Cemetery.
