Constance 'Connie' (Moore) Thomas

Constance “Connie” Moore Thomas passed away at 10:30pm on Friday, December 22, 2017, in Dayton. 

She was born on December 26, 1945, in Clinton County, near Highland.  Connie was the daughter of Harold V. Moore and the late Barbara Peterson Moore. 

She is survived by her father, her two sisters, Jeanne Anne Moore and Ellen L. Reese; brother-in-law, Thomas A. Reese. 

Her husband, Richard “Dick” A. Thomas, preceded Connie in death on November 5, 2017. 

Connie graduated from Simon Kenton High School, Lees Creek, in 1964, from University of Dayton with a Bachelor Degree in 1968, and from Butler University with a Master’s in Education.  She taught for 37 years as a 2nd and 4th grade teacher in schools in Carmel, IN, Kettering and Brookville, and continued substituting for 10 years after retiring. 

Connie and Dick were married on March 30, 1979, and pursued their passion for music throughout their 38 years together.  They enjoyed Square Dancing and Ballroom Dancing and were in several bands, including the Kettering Civic Band, Dayton Letter Carrier Band, Windjammers, and Circus Band.  They traveled to many countries and across the US, always with their trumpets so they could perform with other members of the group.  They were active in the Circus Fans Association of America.  Connie was President of the CFA and hosted her first convention in St. Louis in June, 2017.  Connie had also served as Trustee, Vice President and President for the Windjammers Band.  She organized six of the Summer Meets in 5 different states. 

Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30, 2017, from 10-11am, when a funeral service presided by Patricia Thomas will begin, at Fairview Friends Meeting, in New Vienna.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
