James R. Thompson, age 78, of New Antioch, passed away Thursday evening, July 5, 2018, in Wilmington.
Born July 11, 1939, in Sabina, the son of Clarence Rufus and Edith Marie Hart Thompson.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Margery “Marty” Thompson, October 9, 2009.
He was a graduate of Simon Kenton and joined the Marines. A member of the New Antioch Church of Christ, Jim retired from American Tool after many years. He was a former member of the Clinton County Squares, and also secretary of the New Antioch Cemetery Association.
Jim is survived by his son, James Michael (Bonnie) of Greenfield; grandsons: Cody James, Cory Michael and Noah Christopher Thompson all of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter; Christine Hertzler, and her son, Denton James McDaniel Hertzler; sister, Laura Slagle; and brothers, Dale, George, Wayne and Charles.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 8, 20178, at the New Antioch Church of Christ from 2-4 p.m. where the funeral will be on Monday at 11:00am. Burial will be in the New Antioch Cemetery.
