Marilyn Louise (Thompson) Stephens

Marilyn Louise Stephens, 85, of Port William, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 14, 2017, at Autumn Years in Sabina. Marilyn was born on January 1, 1932 in Green County, near Middleton’s Corner. She was the daughter of Glenn and Sarah Miller Thompson. She is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Stephens, of 66 years. Also left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Shelly (Mike) Keiter of Wilmington; a son, Randy (Barb) Stephens of Bozeman, MT; 5 grandchildren: Scott (Courtney) Hayden of Wilmington, Sara (J.T) Cassell of Beavercreek, Joseph Keiter and Matthew Keiter of Wilmington, and Mallory Hayes of Bozeman, MT; and sister in-law Janie Thompson of Wilmington. Marilyn’s live revolved around her family, home, and church. She was a devoted wife and mother. When younger, she attended Bowersville Elementary School and graduated from Port William High School, followed by one year at Wilmington College. She worked at National Bank in Wilmington for a short period of time and also as a secretary at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. She married her husband on September 9, 1951, right before he left for Germany to serve in the Army. As a member of the Port William United Methodist Church, Marilyn served as a Sunday School secretary for a few years and also played the piano. She also served as Deputy Registrar in Liberty Township for several years as a well as working as a poll worker on election days. As a housewife, she was loving and devoted to her family, always putting their needs before hers. She was also an avid reader, bird lover, and seamstress, not to mention a weather buff. Marilyn also loved to travel and was interested in history. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Thompson. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Port William United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Port William United Methodist Church from 10-11:30am, when a funeral service will begin.
