Alice K. Turner-Hillard

November 24, 1952 — October 16, 2025

Centerville

Alice K. Turner-Hillard, known by her Tibetan family as Sonamkyi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends Thursday morning, October 16, 2025, at the age of 72.

Alice was born in Wilmington, Ohio and graduated from Wilmington High School after which she attended the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing earning her RN. After graduating nursing school Alice worked in Akron before returning to Wilmington to work at Clinton Memorial Hospital where she worked on just about every floor from the ER to OB. Alice worked at Premier Health’s Miami Valley Hospital Main Campus (the big house as she called it) before Premier Health took over and after. Alice loved traveling almost as much as she loved nursing and combined the two into a travel nurse position for over 7 yrs. Traveling and working in places like the U.S. Virgin Islands, DC, and Florida. All told, Alice was a nurse for over 52 years.

When Alice wasnt working at a hospital she was a dedicated school nurse, 4-H Camp Clifton nurse, which she deeply enjoyed, an instructor and supporter of all things health care and EMS related. Outside of nursing and traveling, Alice loved adventure, her flower garden and the beach. Alice often woke up in the morning in Ohio and went to sleep the same day in South Carolina because when she woke up she decided that day she would drive to see the beach and she made it happen.

Alice dedicated her life to her family and nursing following in her mother, Evelyn’s foot steps, bringing compassion and caring to everyone she encountered. Alice’s strength, determination, love and sense of humour even in the difficult times life throws at us is what truly set her apart. Alice found joy in being a huge part of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives and spending every day with her dog, Scout. Alice will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her generosity, endless compassion and her fearless spirit.

Alice was Preceded in death by her parents Evelyn and Leonard Beverley, Ted Turner and her brother Mike Turner.

She is survived by her brother John Turner, her children Justin (Jackie) Turner, Courtney Hillard, Rangrigkyi/Julie (jinpa), Tenzin Dolkar (Tashi), Tenzin Paljor and Jamphel Tenzin. Her grandchildren Tenzin/Josie, Zhibde/Jessie, Bryden, Ryder, Everleigh, Tenzin wangyal, Tenzin Wangmo, Kendall and Korey and cousin Susan Moore
