David Alan Michael

David Alan Michael, age 66, of Sabina, Ohio, passed peacefully at 10:12pm Sunday, October 11, 2026, under the care of Heartland Hospice, in his own home, after a valiant 15-year fight with Renal Cell Carcinoma.

Dave never knew a stranger. He loved talking with friends, as well as those he had just met. A short store journey would often turn into an hour-long conversation with someone he had run across while in the store.

Dave was born on July 3, 1960, to Robert Lee and Mary Naomi Michael, in Greenfield, Ohio. He graduated from East Clinton High School and the Great Oaks Joint Vocational Capus in Wilmington, with a certificate in Auto Mechanics, in 1978.

Dave was hired by K-Mart as an auto mechanic right out of high school. He was employed, three separate times, by Pennant Moldings in Sabina: first as a Machinist, then, afterwards, as a supervisor, followed by a Tool and Die Specialist. He had to leave in 2020 due to his health. In between his employments at Pennant, he was the Cemetery Caretaker of the Sabina Cemetery from 2005-2016. He became Mayor of Sabina in November 2011 and continued as Mayor until health conditions would no longer allow him to serve in April 2015. He helped to get several grants for the Village and worked tirelessly to help Sabina thrive as a productive area of Ohio. Dave was a member of the Sabina Church of Christ, a former Elder, and an active member until his health deteriorated.

Dave married Belinda Marie Purdin, his wife of 45 years, on May 22, 1981. He is survived by four children: Misty (Joe Wilson) Michael of New Vienna, Sarah (Jeremy) Bosier of Sabina, Adam (Erica) Michael of Wilmington and Nicholas Michael of Williamsburg. Also left to treasure his memory are grandchildren: Bailey (Kari Carson) and Morgan (Lucas Wilson) Michael, Sydney and Hunter Bosier, and Leon and Landon Michael; great-grandchildren: Kaisley, Koal and Knox Michael; brothers: Dan Michael of Sabina and Mark (Kellie) Michael of Washington Court House; uncles: Roger Parsons and Thomas W. (Ruth) Spradlin, Jr., of Wadsworth; along with several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Lesley Clarence Michael and Edith Michael Anders; maternal grandparents, Thomas, Sr. and Olive Shepperd Spradlin; sister, Deanna Sue Michael; several aunts and unlces; and granddaughter, Kyrie Jane Michael.

No visitation or service is planned; cremation will be observed per Dave’s wishes. The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, is assisting the family.
