Edward Dean Wiget, known to many as Ed, Eddie, and Eddie Dean, passed away at UC Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, on February 6, 2026, at 10:41 p.m. after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 56 years old. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, laughter, music, stubbornness, love, determination, and remarkable intelligence.

Born on October 12, 1969, Eddie grew up in Sabina, Ohio, where his independent spirit and curiosity were evident from a young age. If something had an engine, gears, wires, or made noise, Eddie was determined to take it apart, understand it, and confidently put it back together — often just to prove that he could.

He developed a love for music early in life and received his first drum set as a child, beginning a lifelong passion for rhythm and sound. To many, Ed will forever be remembered behind a drum set, keeping time not only with music but with life itself. Drummers are often described as the heartbeat of a band — steady, strong, and impossible to ignore — and that description fit Ed perfectly. Ed was also a talented photographer who had a gift for capturing life’s most meaningful moments. From weddings and growing families to creative model sessions and everyday memories, he found joy in preserving stories through his lens. His photography reflected the same patience, precision, and artistic eye that defined so many areas of his life. When computers first emerged, Eddie became fascinated with learning everything about them — inside and out — naturally continuing his habit of disassembling and rebuilding them. His early interest in cameras and photography paired perfectly with his technical mind, allowing both his creativity and analytical skills to flourish. That curiosity never left him. Ed became a certified mechanic in his early years before going on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Maysville Community & Technical College. He built a respected career as a Computer Security Engineer, protecting systems with the same determination he brought to every challenge in life. He possessed a naturally analytical mind — the kind capable of solving complex technical problems with focus and precision.

For the past 10 years, Ed made his home in Falmouth, Kentucky, on Kincaid Lake, where he embraced a more self-sufficient lifestyle. He loved experimenting with recipes, sharing knowledge, and working the land, finding joy in creating things with his own hands. Through his homesteading videos, he welcomed others into the everyday victories and lessons of building a life close to the land. His YouTube channel, “Sharp Ridge Homestead,” ensures that his knowledge, passion, and spirit will continue to inspire others for years to come. Eddie firmly believed that failure was not an option — that you keep trying until you succeed, even if it takes 100 attempts. He believed in setting goals, working hard, and achieving them. Ed was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith guided his life and gave him strength, especially throughout his battle with cancer. His favorite scripture was 2 Timothy 2:24, reminding us to stay focused on a higher calling and live with purpose.

Ed is survived by his loving mother, Vicki Curl; stepfather, Charles “Skip” Curl; his sister, Kelly Kitchen (Joseph); and two stepbrothers, Daniel (Peggy) Curl and David (Kris) Curl.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Edward Wiget, who passed away on October 12, 2008.

Ed also leaves behind his special friend, Francis, along with her children Camryn and Randy, and BT, who preceded him in death. Ed cared for them deeply and lovingly considered them his daughter and sons. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews: Tyler Gregory, Danielle Curl (Steven), Samuel Curl, Trent Curl (Paula), Brandon (Mia) Curl, Kayla Curl, and Joshua Curl; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.

Ed’s life reminds us that obstacles and challenges are part of the human journey — but it is courage, faith, and perseverance that define how we meet them. He leaves behind memories of music, intelligence, unwavering determination, and a life lived fully, authentically, and on his own terms. “To know Ed was to witness a strength and a heart far greater than he ever revealed. While my heart aches without him, I take comfort in knowing he is now in heaven — made whole, surrounded by peace, and walking beside Jesus. ”If Ed could offer one final instruction, it might be this: Above all — love one another. Put God first, always. Help strangers, even if it is only to bring a smile to their face. Learn something new every day. Do not be afraid to get your hands dirty. Reject negative thoughts and be unstoppable. Though his earthly rhythm has grown quiet, the impact of his life will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
