Esther L. Combs

Esther L. Combs, age 94, of Sabina, passed peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Born on December 7, 1931, in Reesville, she was the daughter of J. Forrest and H. Grace (Eakins) Yarger.

Her husband, Charles O. Combs, preceded her in death in May of 2011.

A graduate of Sabina High School and Central State University, Esther was a 5th grade schoolteacher for over 25 years at Sabina Elementary School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Sabina Chuch of Christ.

After her retirement, Charles and Esther enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

Ester is survived by her daughter, Susan (Chris) Thompson of Sabina; sons: Jim (Julie) Combs of Sabina, Michael (Cathy) Combs and Brian (Hope) Combs, all of Waynesville. Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Jill (Nathan) Bowling, Matthew (Kylie) Thompson, Jenna Thomson, Chelsea (Matthew) Zacharias, Christie (Matthew) Taylor, Charity (Steven) Bishop, Erin (David) Dawes, Bradley (Megan) Clifton, Heath Keaton, Anthony Keaton, and Adam Keaton; along with twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Esther was preceded in death by a grandson, Carmen Combs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Heartland Hospice or Copper Knoll Activities Fund.

Friends may call at the Sabina Church of Christ on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 10am – 12pm, when a funeral service will begin. Burial to follow at Sabina Cemetery. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
