Everett I. ‘Butch’ Stoops, Jr., age 62, of Jamestown, passed peacefully at Miami Valley on Friday, March 4, 2022.
Born in Wilmington on April 10, 1959, the son of Everett and Ollie Grooms Stoops.
Butch is survived by his wife of nearly forty years, Peggy Milburn Stoops. The two were united in marriage on July 6, 1982.
Butch attended New Vienna schools and graduated from Laurel Oaks. He went on to serve, for 21 years, in the United States Navy. After his service, Butch worked at New Sabina Industries for 19 years. He was a member of the Jamestown Church of Christ, where he enjoyed various church activities and was an active Elder, before his health declined. Butch was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Dalton #578, in New Vienna. He loved Ohio State Football and the Cincinnati Bengals. Riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and tinkering around in the garage kept Butch busy. His true joy came from spending time with his beloved family and cherished grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Butch is survived by their children: Nicholas (Brenda) Stoops of Columbus, Georgia, and Beth (Jason) Knisley of Sabina. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Madison, Logan, Addelyn, Evynne and Connor; his mother, Ollie Stoops, and sisters: Cindy (Frank) Cunningham and Becky (Brian) Hall, all of New Vienna; along with a host of friends and church family.
Butch was preceded in death by his father, Everett Stoops, and his grandson, Gavin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated to the Jamestown Church of Christ.
Family will receive friends at the Jamestown Church of Christ on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 10am-12Noon, when a memorial service will begin. Burial, at New Antioch Cemetery, will be held privately, at the convenience of the family. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
