Gary R. Young

Gary R. Young, age 73, of Wilmington, passed peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022.

Born in Wilmington on August 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Helen Johnson Young and James Wilford.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. ‘Mickey’ Young, on August 10, 2020.  The two were united in marriage on December 22, 1967.

Gary was a 1966 graduate of Wilmington High School.  He went on to serve in the United States Army.  Gary was a farmer and a truck driver.  He hauled grain and fertilizer for 34 years and was dedicated to the farmers he worked with.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Bair, of Wilmington.  Also left to cherish his memory are granddaughters: Andria Slone and Kelsi (Hunter Bennington) Bair; great-granddaughter, Kynlee; siblings: Jim (Mary) Young and Gwen (Jack, dec.) Maher; brother in-law, Wayne (Nikki) Murphy; nieces: Joni (Paul) Horssall, Jacki (Kevin) Smith, Jonda (Warren) McCarren; along with many great nieces and nephews.
