Hugh G. Fenner

Hugh Glenn Fenner, 90, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

Born July 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Lawrence C. Fenner and Edna F. Runyon Fenner.

On July 28, 1951, Hugh married Maxine Brown who survives.

After school, Hugh worked at the Murphy Theater as a dust boy and also at Willet Ice Cream Factory on Pennsylvania Avenue.  They made the best sherbet.  People would come all the way from Dayton for the sherbet.

Hugh was a Wilmington High School graduate and after graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Army.  He served in the 13th Combat Engineering, seventh division and was a Korean War veteran.  When honorably discharged from the service, Hugh began working at National Cash Register Company in Dayton ; he worked for 37 years in the engineering department.  Later, he worked at the Irwin Company for eighteen years, before retiring.

In addition to his parents, Hugh is preceded in death by his son, Mark Fenner;  a two-year-old brother, Wayne; brother, Eugene; and niece, Jo Anne (David) Offett.

In addition to his wife, left to cherish Hugh’s memory are: nephew, Gary (Cathy) Fenner of Louisville, KY, one great niece, three great nephews, one great-great niece and four great-great nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, there will not be a service.  He will be buried at the Fenner’s plot in the New Antioch Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Clinton Memorial Hospital, Ohio Living - Cape May Rehabilitation and Community Care Hospice for their kindness.

Littleton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
