James J. Gibbs

James Joseph Gibbs (also known as Jimmy Joe) passed on April 18, 2021, at the age of 79.  James resided in Ohio, Michigan and Florida.

James was born in Sabina, Ohio, on June 19, 1941, to Ralph and Catherine Gibbs.  He was raised in Ohio and graduated in the spring of 1959 from Sabina High School, in Sabina, Ohio.  James continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1963 at Ohio University in Athens and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University, NYC, in 1966.

Also in 1966, James began a dedicated 30-year career at Ford Motor Company.  He began this journey as a Computer Programmer, Automotive Assembly Division, in Dearborn, Michigan and retired as Director, Computer Systems and Communications, Ford of Canada.

After retirement, James found a true passion in Genealogy.  Family “Heritage Trips” were meticulously planned a year in advance.  Facts and findings were thoroughly examined and he put forth much love and effort into the study of his family history.

James was the loving husband of the late Portia.  Cherished father of Geraldine Jennifer Birkett (Dan) and Gregory Gibbs (Elyn) and proud grandfather of three.  Dear brother of the late David Richard Gibbs.

A caring, quiet and humble man, James will be deeply missed.
