James H. Poole 83, of Washington Court House passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Court House Manor.
He was born May 18, 1942, in Ross County, Ohio, the son of Harold and Marie (Christian) Poole.
He was a 1960 graduate of Buckskin High School. On May 27 of 1961 he married his one and only Virginia Darlene Russell,
From there, he started farming for five years, went on to factory working and then he went to work at the Record Herald and the Wilmington News Journal for the next 18 years.
Listing to Gods calling, he and Darlene went to Good Hope, opening a Craft and Wood Working shop for nearly 20 years. They also answered the call in word and song, serving others. In 2002 he was appointed to Center and Spring Grove UMC Charge as their pastor for 6 years. He was then moved to McDermott UMC, served for 4 years, until 2012 when he retired for health reasons.
In addition to his wife Darlene, Jim is survived by two daughters, Connie (Kevin) Stewart of Indiana and Christy Cocklin of Washington Court House. Also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren: Tiffany (Chris) Wagner, Steffany (Larry) Wells and Owen Shears; five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, along with a nephew, Bill Wise.
He was preceded in death by his foster sister Betty Wise,
Jim's wish was for cremation and a graveside service, at the convivence of his family, at Good Hope Cemetery.
Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina is in charge of the arrangements.
