Leo E. 'Gene' Shaw

Leo E. ‘Gene’ Shaw, age 97, of Xenia, passed away on April 3, 2024 at Soin Medical Center.

He was born in Waverly on September 17, 1926, to Frank and Lucy Waggoner Shaw.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Shaw; son, Larry Shaw; as well as both parents and seven siblings.

He is survived by children: Peggy (Bill) Thompson of Atlanta, GA, Nancy (Ric) Matson and Fred (Vickie Brewer) Shaw, all of Xenia.  Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Beth Francis, Dawn Koger, Steve Shaw, Theresa Shaw, Linsey Hawley, Travis Matson and Andrew Shaw; as well as 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Leo was remarkably independent for his age.  He was still living alone, driving, cooking, etc. until the time of his passing.

The family has planned a memorial gathering for Gene on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 2-5pm at the Elks Lodge, 71 E. Second Street, Xenia 45385.
