Leroy Shaffer, age 74, of Sabina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Wood Glen Veteran's Facility in Dayton.

Born in Leesburg on March 5, 1948, he was the son of Clarence and Betty J. Knisley Shaffer.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Arlene Routzahn Shaffer.  The two were united in marriage in 1970.

A Veteran of the United States Army, Leroy served in Vietnam.  He was a lifetime farmer and worked with Conveyer Services and Airborne.

Leroy was a member of the Sabina Lions Club, along with the Sabina Fire Department and Life Squad, where he was instrumental in the purchase and operation of the 'Jaws of Life' for Sabina and the surrounding area.  An avid motorcyclist, Leroy was a member of the GWRRA of Ohio, a group he took many trips with.

In addition to his wife, Leroy is survived by his daughter, Heather Shaffer, of Sabina; along with her children: Jonatha Shaffer of Sabina, Steven (Shakira) Poplin of Omaha, Nebraska, Maria Wilson and Dixie Carmen; and one great-grandchild, on the way.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at Sabina Cemetery on Monday September 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M.
