Martha H. (Ison) Lewis

Martha Helen Lewis, age 81, of Bloomingburg, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, early Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Born in Elliott, Kentucky on March 22, 1941, she was the daughter of Ellis and Suzie Ison.  After the death of her mother, Martha was raised by her father and step-mother, Della.

For many years, she worked as a home health aide.  Martha was known for her love of visiting and was happy to do so while helping her elderly clients remain in their own homes. She did not know a stranger and was always willing to stop and talk awhile.  Martha enjoyed working her puzzle books and was happiest when surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert L. Lewis.  The two were united in marriage for 41 years, having wed on June 5, 1982.

Additionally, Martha is survived by her children: Arlene Sue (Paul) Gillum and Darvis Coffey, Jr., all of Ray, Ohio.  Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren: Tabatha Sue (Peter) Fotinakis, Paul Tyler (Danielle) Gillum, and Heather (Danny) Dalton; great-grandchild, Jesse Dalton, and another one on the way in March.  Martha is also survived by five of her eleven siblings: Robert, Joyce, Darrell ‘Deanie’, Christine and Angie; along with a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings.

A celebration of Martha’s life will take care in the future.  Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
