Max E. Hewitt

Max Eugene Hewitt, age 93, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at home.

He was born January 11, 1932, at home on Stone Road in Melvin, Clinton County, Ohio, the son of Ralph G. Hewitt and Mary Marguerite McFarland-Hewitt. Besides his parents, Max is also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jean Hewitt-Pope.

He is survived by his wife Bessie L. Holcomb-Hewitt, who he married July 20, 1968; two sons and daughters in-law: E. Alex and Margarita Copher, Van Eugene and Laura Hewitt; three daughters and sons in-law: Kim L. Hewitt and Lenny Rossellot, Karan L. Hewitt and Steve Keiter, and Kelly L. Hewitt-Borton; grandchildren: Kole, Kristopher, and Kaleb Rossellot; Ashleigh, Joel, Josiah and Anna Keiter; Victor Max Copher; Riley Dawn, Colt and Wesley Hewitt; Connor, Sara, and Lauren Borton-Flood, and their father Chad Borton; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Max was a 1950 graduate of Wayne Township Centralized High School. He was a founding member of the Wilmington Calvary Baptist Church for 47 years, a U.S. Army Veteran, a self-employed farmer for 25 years, and a Clinton County Chester Township Clerk and Trustee for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49, a very proud 70-year Freemason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and a Shriner. Max enjoyed being a Chester Herdsman 4-H Club Advisor. He especially enjoyed his family and horses.

Family will receive friends at Wilmington Calvary Baptist Church (1920 W US Highway 22 3, Wilmington) on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10am until 12 Noon, when a Masonic service will take place, the funeral service will immediately follow. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
