On June 15, 2024, Paul William Gehringer, age 82, left this earthly life to walk with his Lord and Savior. Paul passed away after an intense return of cancer. His wife Charity and his two children were by his side.
He was the son of the late Harold and Helen Black Gehringer.
Paul leaves a legacy of firefighting service that started at Wilmington FD and followed with 28 years at WPAFB where he retired as a Chief. Paul was active with the National Weather Service SkyWarn program and a member of the Clinton County Amateur Radio Club, Call sign WB8ZZR. He enjoyed wood turning, eating breakfast with his friends, researching ancestry and sitting at bonfires with the great-grandchildren.
He attended the Wilmington Church of Christ and raised as a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Charity (Reiley) Gehringer of 62 years, his daughter, Cheryl (Mark) Ford and son, David (Tonya) Gehringer. Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Kelly (Brad) Burton, Michael (Andrea) Ford, Johathan Gehringer, Luke Gehringer and five loving great-grandchildren: Kendall, Silas, Benjamin, Elliotte and Adalynn. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Barb (Terry) Urton and niece, Teresa Urton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wilmington Church of Christ.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Wilmington Church of Christ from 11:00 A.M until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. A luncheon will follow the service at the church and burial will follow on Friday at 9:00 A.M. at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
