Franklin Jones, age 83, of Wilmington, passed peacefully at Clinton Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 12, 2025.
Born in Hillsboro on February 25, 1942, he was the son of George Washington and Margaret Marie Morris Jones.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Barbara Rothwell Jones. The two were united in marriage on November 26, 1966.
Frank worked for General Telephone for almost 20 years and then mowed for Clinton County for over 20 years. He was a self-taught woodworker and was skilled in building and repairing furniture. He loved to go antiquing, along with visiting flea markets and yard sales. For 35 years, Frank could be found in the antique barn at the Clinton County Corn Festival. His favorite pastime was sitting on the porch watching the squirrels and birds.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by their daughter and her husband, Shelby and Tom LaPine of Sabina. Also left to cherish his memory is granddaughter, Angel (Phil Frohriep) LaPine; great grandchildren: Cole and Lincoln; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, R. Franklin Jones, Jr.; beloved grandson, Luke LaPine; and siblings: Anna Mae Lunsford, Leland Jones, David Jones and Ray Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the future. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
