Richard (Rich) Hines, age 55, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died peacefully at OSU Ross Heart Hospital surrounded by his family.

Rich was born September 8, 1970, in Fayette County, Ohio to Ima Jean (Sparkman) and Charles Lee Hines. He spent his entire life in Fayette County. Rich worked at ABX Air (formerly Airborne Express) for more than 20 years until they sold the company. He then spent several years working for DHL in Wilmington until they also closed their doors. He was most recently employed by R & L Carriers until he was unable to continue working. He loved working on the forklift and around the airplanes.

Rich enjoyed spending quality time with his children and his grandson, Barrett. His hobbies included fishing, which was his favorite past time with his dad and children. Rich was an avid Michigan Football fan and enjoyed screaming at the TV and getting harassed for liking his Wolverines. Another one of his favorite things to do was spend time with his dog, Atlas. While his dog looks like a horse, Atlas is a gentle giant and loved being by Rich’s side.

Rich is proceeded in death by his father, Charles Lee Hines, brother, Danny Hines, and his sister, Donna Johnson.

He is survived by his children: Cameron (Charlotte) Hines of Sabina, Caleb Hines and Katelyn Dillow of Clarksville, Kassidy (Seth) McDonald of Circleville, OH; and his mother, Ima Jean Hines of Washington Court House.  Also surviving is the mother of his children, April Hines (Blanton Brown) of Washington CH; his sister, Susan (Kevin) Manns of Washington CH. Rich leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews including Jenna Manns, Nikki Riley, Kasey Stolzenburg, Brittany Fannin, Jennifer Wilson, and Thomas Johnson, along with many other great and great-great nieces and nephews, who all held a special place in his heart and he would always say to them, “I love you, Kiddo!”

The family will host family and friends Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 4-6pm at The Gathering Place Church (240 Courthouse Parkway, Washington CH). Rich’s funeral service will be held at the church on Wednesday at 11am; burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Oh. After the burial, the ladies of The Gathering Place Church will host a meal for the family and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to any of his children or the funeral home to help offset the cost of his monument.
