Rozella M. (Lucas) Haines

Rozella Mae Lucas Haines of Wilmington, OH, formerly of Warren, OH, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Ohio Living Cape May.

Mrs. Haines was born on January 3, 1924, to the late Oscar and Mary Lucas in Somerton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 68 years (married August 26, 1945), Donald Eber Haines, in 2013.

She is survived by nieces and nephews Robert Hussey (Margaret) Troy, OH, JoAnne Lindsey (Don) Wilmington, OH, Richard Hartman (Marilyn) Nashville, TN, Joy Settlemyre (John) Wilmington, OH as well as many great nieces and nephews.  Her first cousin, Nelson Keene (Pat Boggess) of Pataskala, OH also survives.

Rozella graduated from Somerset High School in 1941 and continued her education in nurses training at Martin’s Ferry Hospital and became a registered nurse.  She worked at various hospitals throughout her career including Martin’s Ferry, Urbana, Trumbull Memorial, and St. Joseph’s hospitals in Warren, OH where she enjoyed working in pediatrics.  Rozella was very active in the Tod Avenue United Methodist Church in Warren for over 40 years and enjoyed many church activities, including Women’s Circle.  Rozella was an avid Ohio State football fan enjoying home and away games with her husband from 1945 through 2010.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Vienna Community Church, PO Box 454, New Vienna, Ohio 45159; Dan Mayo, Pastor.  Rozella’s family would like to thank everyone at Ohio Living Cape May in Wilmington for their care and friendship of Rozella over the past 13 years as well as special friends Rev. Dan and Bev Mayo.

Funeral services will be held at Littleton Funeral Home in Sabina on Saturday, August 26, 2023, with visitation at 11:00 am and funeral at Noon with Pastor Dan Mayo officiating, . Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, OH.
