Ted W. Waddle

September 29, 1953 — November 12, 2025

Washington Court House

Ted William Waddle, 72, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on November 12, 2025. Ted was born on September 29, 1953 and was a life long resident of Fayette County. He was a 1971 graduate of Miami Trace High School where he excelled in FFA and earned many awards including the American Farmer degree.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Waddle and Betty (Lyons) Waddle of Washington C.H., OH.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his adored daughters, Stacia (Justin May) Waddle of Columbus, OH, Lyndsay (Greg) Leisure and Natalie (Marc) Roath both of Washington C.H., OH; his granddaughters that he loved so very much, Addyson and Avery Leisure and Hannah Roath; his faithful and amazing farming partner Terry Carl; his brother-in-law Kevin (Debbie) Miller, his friend/cousin Mick Lanman; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.; his pets Candy, Ginger and Brownie; his special friend Mary Bock; and step-mother Virginia Waddle.

Ted was a devoted son, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. He met the love of his life Susan and after a brief courtship (when you know you know!) They were married at Wildwood Farm and spent 48 beautiful years together.

Ted was a farmer through and through. He was never more at home than when he was in a combine or on a tractor. As many people know, he was always one of the first people to start planting or harvesting and often the first one to finish. He loved and was a true steward of the land even during the lean years when it didn’t love him back.

When he wasn’t working the land Ted helped wrangle his daughter’s 4-H pigs, drove his granddaughters around in the Gator, or took a drive with Susan. Ted also enjoyed Saturday morning breakfasts with friends and the Friday afternoon "Board Meetings" with some of his farming buddies.

Ted was a Concord Township Trustee for 20 years. He took the welfare of his township very seriously and was dedicated to that responsibility. He was a member of McNair Presbyterian Church during his formative years and was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in later years.

Ted was a member of BPOE 129, The Masonic Lodge 107, and the Eagles Lodge 423.

Ted was a big softie at heart. He loved animals. He would side eye the Waddle Women when they brought a cat into the house only to be seen with it on his lap and purring a few days later. He was an avid NASCAR fan (RIP Dale) and he attended quite a few races with Susan by his side. Ted was also a long suffering Browns fan. He even got to attend the last Browns game in the old stadium.

Ted was the true definition of a helper. You could always count on him to be there. He was loyal to those he loved, and if there was a way for him to help them he never hesitated.

As Paul Harvey once said, “On the 8th day, God made a farmer.” We are forever blessed that God made this one.

Visitation will be held at The First Presbyterian Church, 214 N Hinde Street in Washington Court House, Ohio from 4-6:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
