Virginia R. (Blanton) Nelson

Virginia R. Nelson, age 87, of Sabina, passed peacefully at Clinton Memorial on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Born on March 15, 1937, in West Union, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Alta Grooms Blanton.

Virginia was a devoted homemaker.  She was a former member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Sabina.  It was in church that Virginia loved singing, writing songs and Christmas programs, working VBS and teaching Sunday School to children.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nelson, in 2013.

She is survived by their sons: Harold ‘Bud’ Nelson of Sabina, Tim (Robyn) Nelson of Jacksonville, FL, and Chris (Stephanie) Nelson of Lebanon, TN.  Also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren: Brandy, Leslie, Brandon, Caleb, Noah and Benjamin; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and siblings: Teddy (Diane) Blanton of West Union and Barbara Bushong of Raymond, OH; along with a host of nieces and nephews; and special caregivers: Janie Davis and Kim Clark.

In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by siblings: Oscar Blanton, Jr., Harold Blanton, David Blanton, Doris Goodwin, and Helen Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice.

Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10am until the time of service at 11am. Burial to follow at Sabina Cemetery.
