Wayne E. Hammond

Wayne E. Hammond, age 77, of Bentonville, passed at Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington on Sunday, September 27, 2020.

Born in Sabina, on February 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Jennings and Alice Cartwright Hammond.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Elliott Hammond, who passed in 2018.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy.  Wayne spent his time ‘wheeling and dealing’, traveling, and frequenting flea markets.  He loved to play cards, the guitar and harmonica.  Wayne was happiest spending time outdoors – he loved fishing and mushroom hunting.

Wayne is survived by his children: Wayne Hammond, Jr. of Bentonville, Genia (Kevin) Pinkerton of Leesburg, and Tim (Tracie) Hammond of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and one on the way; sister, Connie (Terry) Bradley of Sabina; sister in-law, Linda Hammond; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter and son in-law, Tracey and Tom Morgan; along with brothers: Bill Hammond and John Hammond.

A graveside service, at Sabina Cemetery, with Military Honors, will be held at 3pm on Monday, October 5, 2020.  Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
