Dennis Carlson Obituary

Dennis A. Carlson, age 76, of Sabina, passed Sunday evening, June 12, 2022, at Dayton VA Hospice.

Born October 7, 1945 in St. Charles, Illinois, he was the son of Alvar B. and Ada (Stoddard) Carlson.

In 1963, he graduated from St. Charles High School.  Denny was most proud of being a Marine Corp Veteran and serving his country, completing one tour during the Vietnam War, where he became a Disabled Veteran.

On July 17, 1987, in Astor, Florida, Denny married Barbara L. (Reisinger) Carlson, who survives.  In 2004, the couple relocated to Sabina, Ohio, to be near family.

Dennis had worked in construction, carpentry, and as a mail courier; most recently, he was employed by Airborne Express.  He enjoyed working in the sunshine, tending to yard work and gardening, as well as maintaining his swimming pool.  Denny was a past member of the VFW and the American Legion and was honored to have been a recipient of the Honor Flight out of Wilmington.

In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by children: Daniela (Jerrold) Jacobson of Minnesota, Chris (Rose) King of Texas, and Joe King of Oklahoma; step-children: Cyndi (Marc) Wallace of Sabina, Lisa (Jason) Shoemaker of Wilmington, Steve (Pam) Burnett of Jamestown, Teresa Beverly of Washington Court House, and Bob Reisinger of Missouri.  Also left to cherish his memory are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Susan Anderson; niece, Tony (James) Norton; and great nephews Dylan Jurca and Coty Varlas, all of Arizona.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents and brother in-law, Philip Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: The Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans, Freedom Service Dogs of America, K9s for Warriors, and the Honor Flight Network.

There will be no local services.  Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in St. Charles, Illinois, at Rivers Hill Memorial Park. Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, has been entrusted with arrangements.
