Estel E. ‘Gene’ Jarrell, age 78, of Sabina, passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Ohio State University Hospital.
Born in Bloomington on June 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Estel and Geneva Slagle Jarrell.
Estel is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Cox Jarrell. The two were married June 11, 1961.
A graduate of Sabina High School, Gene worked at Wilmington Publishing Company right out of high school for 13 years. He, his brother Bob, and their dad, Estel, Sr. had Jarrell and Sons Auto Sales, in Sabina, for 35 years. Gene retired in 2004.
Gene was a member of the Sabina Moose Lodge since 1977; he loved to sing karaoke with his friends.
In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by his daughter, Penny Carter of Sabina, and his son, Tom (Jane) Jarrell of Wilmington. Also left to cherish his memory are grandsons, Andrew Jarrell of Aurora, IL and Matthew (Courtney) Jarrell of Sabina; a sister, Mary (Harry) Powell of Wilmington; and a brother, Bob Jarrell of Sabina.

Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 5-7pm. Burial, at Sabina Cemetery, will take place at the convenience of the family.
