Fern O. (Wheeler) Wright

Fern Ola Wright, 88, of Sabina, Ohio passed away on March 4, 2022.

Fern was born on May 10, 1933, in Ashville, Ohio to William and Lena (Ramey) Wheeler.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Aaron Wright after 33 years of marriage.  Fern was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Stars Chapter 324, a member of the United Baptist Church, Alger, Ohio and attended the Trinity Full Gospel Church, Sabina, Ohio.

Fern was an inspiration to her family, friends and community.  She lost her eyesight in her late twenties due to a hereditary medical condition.  She never felt sorry for herself and always believed that the Lord had a purpose with her blindness; however, it did little to slow her down.  Fern was very active in the local community, organizations and church.  She loved the Lord and had a faith that was an inspiration to all who knew her.  Without her eyesight, Fern developed an amazing memory.  She knew her Bible, being able to quote large sections of scripture perfectly.  There was very little she could not do in taking care of her family, her house and helping her neighbors.  She absolutely loved her family and there was a very special bond with her brothers, sisters and in-laws.  After losing her husband in 1983, she went on to live independently for the next thirty years, hosting parties, family dinners and Christmas events.

Fern is survived by four children: her daughter, Rita Lilly of Sabina, sons: Rick (Cheri) Wright of Cincinnati, OH, Ronald (Melisa) of Montgomery, OH, and, Donald (Jean) of Clarkston, MI.  She was blessed with eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, John (Betty) of Naples, FL; sister, Christina “Chris” (Larry) Neal of Naples, FL; brother-in-law, Don (Caroline) Kay, Grove City, OH and sisters-in-law: Bonnier Wheeler of San Antonio, FL and Marie Wheeler of Forster City, CA.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: James, Eugene and Ervin, and sister, Rosalie.

Contributions may be made to the Trinity Full Gospel Church, Sabina, Ohio.

Family will receive friends at Trinity Full Gospel Church, Sabina, on Friday, March 11, 2022, from 1-2pm, when a funeral service will begin. 

Fern will be laid to rest, next to her husband, at Preston cemetery, Alger, Ohio at 1pm on March 12, 2022.
