Roger Everhart Obituary

Roger A. Everhart, age 85, of Highland, passed peacefully at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe on Sunday, February 2, 2020. 

Born in Careytown on September 4, 1934, he was the only son of the late Harry J. and Bessie M. Edwards Everhart.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Grace Long Everhart, on August 4, 2019.  The two were united in marriage on June 7, 1953. 

Roger attended Leesburg High School and went on to serve in the US Army.  He retired from Mead Packaging Plant in Washington Court House.  Roger was formerly the Mayor of Highland, a former Highland Chief of Police, and served on the Highland Fire Department.  He enjoyed building, working on and driving race cars in his younger years.  Roger’s hobbies included hunting, fishing and wood working. 

He is survived by his sons: Thomas and Samuel Everhart, both of Leesburg.  Also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Jessica Page of Oregon, Michael Shelton of Dayton ,Amber Everhart of Hillsboro, Sammy and Cody Everhart of Greenfield, Dominic Storer, Coleton Maddox, and Jacob Everhart, all of Leesburg; several great-grandchildren; brother in-law and good friend of 80 years, Charles Adams of Lees Creek; brother and sisters in-law: Carol and Irvin Pollock, Dorothy LaPine, Sue Long and Barbara Long, all of Wilmington; best friends, Donald and Dottie Creed of Highland; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Louise Akins, and her husband, Daniel; nephew, Randy Adams; and great-nephew, Tim Gifford. 

Family will receive friends at Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina, on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 10am-12Noon, when a funeral service will begin.  Burial to follow at Centerville Cemetery, Lees Creek.
