Obituary

Samuel B. Wilson Jr., age 88, of Sabina, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 29, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Born in Wilmington on September 14, 1934, he was the son of Samuel B. Sr. and Goldie Marie ‘Smith’ Wilson.

Sam is survived by his wife, Barbara ‘Pauley’ Wilson. The two were united in marriage on November 30, 1957.

Sam was a graduate of Sabina High School, where he played basketball. After high school, Sam went on to serve four years in the Navy, where he boxed. Following his time in the Navy, he joined the Air Force, and subsequently retired, as a Master Sargent, after being enlisted for 34 years.

He was a lifelong Sabina resident, living in the same house for most of his life. Sam and his wife, Barb, were able to enjoy living winters in Florida for 30 years. A member of the Sabina Church of Christ and the American Legion, Sam was also very involved in his community. He was a Pee Wee football coach, instructed students in weight lifting in his home and helped build the East Clinton Football stadium. Sam also loved to play euchre and care for many personal and neighborhood pets. His greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Sam is also survived by their children: Samuel B. “Rusty” (Linda) Wilson III of Memphis, TN, Ravonda (Gary) Bentley of Burlington, KY, and Randolph (Tammie) Wilson of Washington Court House, OH. Additionally left to cherish his memory are grandchildren: Joshua (Allyson) Snapp and Jake Snapp all of Cincinnati, Eric (Angel) Wilson of New Holland, Jenna and Brian (Savanah) Wilson all Washington Court House, and Bear Wilson of Memphis, TN; great grandchildren: Rylie, Lucas, Myles, Alexis, Natalie, Parker, Norah, Major, Wayde, Alicia, Ebelin, Eduardo “Bub”, Estella, Stephanie and Noah; siblings: Ruth Ann (John) Wright and George (Susie) Wilson.

Sam was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stacie Snapp, and siblings: Leona Rose, Adam, Jack, Harry, Charles Jackie and Mary Jane.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Sabina Church of Christ from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. A breakfast gathering will be held prior to the visitation at the COVE, also at the Church of Christ, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am, all are welcome. Burial will at Sabina Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Ohio’s Hospice of Fayette County. Arrangements have been entrusted to Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina.
